One Direction Singer Liam Payne Left $32.2 Million Without A Will
Liam Payne’s ex-partner Cheryl Cole has been named the administrator of his estate, which has a net value of approximately $32.2 million and a gross value of around $ 38 million.
Liam Payne, the former One Direction star, tragically passed away in October 2024, leaving millions of fans worldwide in mourning. The 31-year-old artist died after falling from a third-floor hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Court documents released on May 1, 2025, reveal that Cheryl Cole, Payne’s ex-partner and the mother of his son, Bear, has been named as the administrator of his estate. The estate has a net value of approximately $32.2 million and a gross value of around $38 million. Cole, 41, known for her career as a former member of the British girl group Girls Aloud, dated Payne between 2016 and 2018. The pair welcomed their son, Bear, in 2017.

Cole will share the responsibility of managing Payne’s estate with attorney Richard Mark Bray, according to court filings. However, as the estate was left without a will, a situation legally referred to as “intestate," the distribution of his assets will follow the UK’s intestacy laws. These laws prioritise immediate family members in the absence of a lawful spouse, typically directing funds to children and surviving parents.
Despite being named administrators, Cole and Bray currently have limited control over Payne’s financial assets. According to a report by the BBC, “Cheryl and Bray will manage the money, but they currently have limited authority and cannot distribute it."
Following Payne’s death in October 2024, Cheryl took to her Instagram to share an emotional post recalling her ex-partner. Cheryl described his death as an “earth-shattering event."

She also added," Liam was not only a pop star and celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend and a father to our 7-year-old son. A son who now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again. Please give Liam the little dignity he has left in the wake of his death to rest in some peace at last."
Payne’s sudden passing left an indelible mark on the music industry, with his contributions to One Direction and his solo career continuing to influence millions of fans globally.
