The Home Ministry ordered that mock drills will be conducted on May 7 in 244 district across the country. The drill will be carried out to enhance the emergency preparedness following the Pahalgam terror attack. The direction came on Monday as India prepared to strike terror posts in Pakistan along the Line of Control (LOC) on the intervening night of Tuesday-Wednesday under Operation Sindoor, a series of precision strikes destroying 9 terrorist bases including Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The comprehensive drill focuses on major activities across civil defence districts, extending to village level.
