On Thursday evening, Pakistan launched missiles, drones and artillery fire on Jammu, following which India activated its air defence systems and thwarted these attempts. Within minutes, Pakistan attacked other cities too, including Kupwara, Rajouri and Baramulla in J&K, Pathankot in Punjab, and Jaisalmer and Ganganagar in Rajasthan. Loud explosions were reportedly heard in Jaisalmer as India intercepted Pakistani drones.
The Defence Ministry said the Pakistani military attempted to target Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj. A blackout was imposed on all bordering cities in Rajasthan, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Chandigarh was also put on high alert and under total blackout, with air warning sirens being sounded.
Following Pakistan’s attempted attacks, Punjab, where Karan Kundrra is from, is a high-risk zone. Chandigarh witnessed air raid sirens on Friday morning after receiving a warning from the Indian Air Force Station of a “possible attack", prompting the district administration to advise the residents to remain indoors and away from balconies.
