The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League was suspended on Friday, as cross-border tensions escalated between India and Pakistan on Thursday night, with missiles being fired from Pakistan towards civilian areas of India on the Line of Control, with BCCI prioritising the sentiment of the nation.
A cloud of uncertainty had loomed over the future of IPL 2025 since the cancellation of Thursday’s game between the Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala, midway after air raid alerts in neighbouring cities of Jammu and Pathankot.

What Happened After the Suspension of IPL 2021?

The series was supposed to end mid-September, but after four Tests, COVID-19 struck again, and the final Test of the series was postponed to next year.
IPL 2021 restarted on September 19, 2021, in Dubai with a marquee clash between defending champions Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings. 13 games were held in Dubai, 10 in Sharjah and eight in Abu Dhabi.
BCCI came up with a 46-page health advisory that laid down all the pointers that everyone associated with the Indian Premier League needed to follow to ensure that the tournament continued smoothly.
