These Maharashtrian snacks prepared with seasonal ingredients, earthy spices, and traditional cooking methods are perfect for chilly evenings. 

Vada Pav

The vada made from spicy mashed potato is sandwiched between a pav (bread), and is served with spicy garlic chutney and fried green chillies.

Misal Pav

The spicy curry prepared with sprouted moth beans (matki) and topped with fried snack mix, onions, and coriander. It is served with pav and lemon.

Pohay

Pohay or Poha made with flattened rice, onions, mustard seeds, turmeric, and green chillies, is a popular breakfast option in Maharashtrian homes.

Kothimbir Vada

It is a savoury snack made from a batter of chickpea flour (besan) and fresh coriander leaves (kothimbir). The mixture is steamed, cut into squares, and fried until crispy.

Bhakarwadi

It is made from spiced gram flour dough rolled with a sweet and tangy filling of coconut, sesame seeds, and spices. The rolls are sliced into rounds and deep fried.
