Good Boy Teaser Introduces Park Bo Gum, Kim So Hyun As Ex-Athletes Turned Rookie Cops
The production team of Good Boy described the show as a story about “youth who rise again after defeat” and promised it to be a package of action, comedy and romance.
After enthralling fans with his performance in When Life Gives You Tangerines, actor Park Bo Gum is returning to the screen with yet another highly anticipated drama titled Good Boy. On May 1, JTBC released the first teaser for the series through its various social media channels, promising a unique blend of action, comedy and heartwarming moments.
JTBC’s Good Boy is a story about a group of young athletes who take up roles as police officers through a special recruitment process. Trading their medals for badges, the group will take on the world of corruption and fight injustice and deception. The teaser begins by giving a peek into the lives of the acclaimed athletes, each one of whom stood in the international spotlight.

The characters include boxing gold medalist Yoon Dong Joo, played by Park Bo Gum, shooting gold medalist Ji Han Na, played by Kim So Hyun, fencing silver medalist Kim Jong Hyun, portrayed by Lee Sang Yi, wrestling bronze medalist Go Man Sik, portrayed by actor Heo Sung Tae, and discuss throw bronze medalist Shin Jae Hong, played by Tae Won Suk.
While the first few seconds of the teaser show a flash of their golden moments as athletes, surrounded by cheers and glory, the mood quickly shifts. The teaser then reveals their harsh realities, with Yoon Dong Joo, once known for his powerful uppercuts, being cramped in a car and stealing a few moments of sleep during his shift. Ji Han Na, known for her perfect aims, now hides her sadness behind her forced smile.
Kim Jong Hyun, who once yielded his sword with pride, and Go Man Sik, who overpowered his opponents with his strength, go through their ordinary routines far from the arenas which once defined them. The most jarring scene of all was when Shin Jae Hong, the medal-winning discus thrower, was seen in a giant police mascot suit on the street.
Just as hope seems to vanish for the quintet, a dark and dangerous villain emerges in Inseong City, pulling the five heroes back into action. Together known as the “Goodvengers," they take on injustice with renewed strength. The 50-second teaser ends with Yoon Dong Joo saying, “The round isn’t over until we’ve taken down our opponent." Good Boy will premiere on JTBC on May 31 at 10:40 PM KST and will air every Saturday and Sunday till its conclusion on July 20.
