Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met chiefs of all armed forces in Delhi after India successfully countered missile and drone attacks from Pakistan on Thursday night.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday chaired a high-level meeting at South Block in New Delhi to review the security situation along the western border and operational preparedness of the Indian Armed Forces.

Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh and Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh attended the meeting.

    The development came after India on Thursday foiled Pakistan’s attempt to conduct airstrikes on military stations and several cities in Jammu, Rajasthan, Punjab and Gujarat, which began around 8:30 pm last night. Pakistan also targeted military stations at Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur, with the Indian Army retaliating swiftly.

    After the Pakistani attempts were foiled last night, the defence ministry said India remains “fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and ensure the safety of its people." Indian military officials said the Pakistani drones and missiles were effectively engaged by Indian armed forces and the attempts by the enemy were thwarted.

    Defence Minister Singh on Thursday said no limit will become an obstacle to protect India’s sovereignty and the nation is fully prepared for such responses.
