Two board exams will be held for Class 10 by the Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) in 2026-27 academic session, the Union Ministry of Education (MoE) had announced earlier. In 2024, Trivandrum was the region with the highest performing students with 99.91 per cent pass rate, followed by Vijayawada with 99.04 per cent and Chennai with 98.47 per cent.

Last year, more than 24,000 class 12 students received scores above 95 per cent, while more than 1.16 lakh received scores above 90 per cent.

CBSE will issue the merit certificate to top 0.1 per cent of students who have scored the highest marks. The toppers list will not be released to avoid unhealthy competition. CBSE had last year stated that it does not award second or third division to students.
