Ben Affleck Recalls Having ‘Empathy’ For Britney Spears Due To Media Scrutiny
Ben Affleck spoke about the empathy he felt for Britney Spears, who faced intense media scrutiny during the peak of her career.

Ben Affleck, who has often been in the spotlight because of his personal life, is well aware of the pressure celebrities face from the paparazzi. Recently, the actor spoke about the ‘empathy’ he felt for Britney Spears, who faced intense media scrutiny during the peak of her career. Ben said that such celebrities are often chased and bothered by the paparazzi, which adds more stress. The Accountant star also talked about his own experiences with this kind of pressure. He shared that it feels very unfair because the photographers sometimes push the situation on purpose to make things look worse, just to get more attention.
During a recent appearance on the This Past Weekend w/ Theo Von podcast, Ben said, “A long time ago, I really had a lot of empathy for Britney Spears. I had my own experiences myself, I knew that these people are following her around in a time where she may or may not have been having difficulty. I don’t know because I don’t know her. But I do know that the cycle of having people harangue you, yell at you, hassle you and follow you. It kind of seemed like that itself was kind of whipping up the whole thing into a tizzy."

“They’re kind of poking stick at it and going, ‘Look, look at it.’ That’s the first time I thought this is a weird kind of unintentional, culturally but kind of collective cruelty what’s taken out of the image that you see are the people around, waving the stick at the tiger or poking on it. All you see is the growling animal because somebody’s coming around, hitting on it to make it get active, and that’s where you think, ‘Okay, well, this isn’t really news. It’s not even real.’ That’s where I thought, ‘The wise thing to do is to just maintain one’s perspective and try to remove yourself a little bit,’ which is what I would like to do," Ben Affleck explained.
The Air star further talked about how frustrating it can be when paparazzi follow him, especially when he is spending time with his kids. He shared that whenever he asks them politely to give him some space, they listen and leave. However, the problem is that photographers mostly try to capture celebrities when they are annoyed or upset.
Ben explained that if someone is constantly bothered, of course, they will look irritated in the pictures. He believes that some photographers purposely make celebrities lose their temper because if any actor reacts badly, the pictures or videos sell for more money.
Ben Affleck’s bond with Jennifer Lopez in the early 2000s brought him a lot of media attention. In recent years, the actor’s reunion with Jennifer Lopez, and their split, brought even more focus on him. The actor has remained reluctant to talk about his personal life after the split.
